A quick tour of Lebanon's
most outstanding tourist sites

Anjar

Lebanon's only remaining walled city comprising palaces, souks, a bath and colonnated streets. The city of Anjar was founded by Caliph Walid I at the beginning of the 8th century. The ruins reveal a very regular layout, reminiscent of the palace-cities of ancient times, and are a unique testimony to city planning under the Umayyads. Baalbeck, Lebanon's greatest Roman treasure, can be counted among the wonders of the ancient world. The largest and most noble Roman temples ever built, they are also among the best preserved.

Antelias

Baalbeck

The largest and best preserved corpus of Roman architecture.  Its temples, dedicated to Jupiter, Venus and Baccus, were built in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD.  But most majestic are its six immense columns located where the temple of Jupiter once stood. The ruins reveal a very regular layout, reminiscent of the palace-cities of ancient times, and are a unique testimony to city planning under the Umayyads. Beiteddine

Beiteddine Palace: a 19th century palace built by Emir Bashir comprising arcades, galleries, rooms of eastern architecture, a museum of feudal weapons, costumes and jewelry, a new archaeological museum and a museum of Byzantine mosaics.

Beit Meri

Former Cannanite town with several temples, old Hammams, Byzantine theaters and a church of the 5th century A.D., located at what is now termed as Dayr Al Qalaa, where a shrine for the god Baal was build by the Phoenicians.

The birthplace of Saint Charbel Makhlouf whose life story and miracles have dawned the world at large.
