Ameen Rihani
Museum
Dedicated to the Lebanese-American author and thinker Ameen
Rihani, the museum, situated in his hometown Freike, Lebanon, diaplays the author's
biography, works in both English and Arabic, translations, tributes, manuscripts, letters,
works of art, newspaper clippings, belongings, and personal gifts from world leaders.
Founder of The Arab American Literature, Ameen Rihani was the First Lebanese Arab to
introduce free verse to modern Arabic poetry, and to write and publish a novel in English.

AUB Archeological
Museum
Founded in 1868, the AUB Museum, is the third oldest Museum in
the Near East. Today the Museum exhibits a wide range of artifacts from Lebanon and
neighbouring countries tracing man's progress in the Near East from the Early Stone Age to
the Islamic period. Opening Hours Monday to Friday 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, closed during

Baalbek Museum
Diplays some 20 statues and several smaller artifacts from
the Bronze and Hellenistic eras and, most outstandingly, the 200 years of Roman rule
during which the temples were built. The
museum’s main value lies in the maps and photographs interpreting how and why the
temples were built. There is also an interesting exhibition by the German photographer
Herman Burckhardt of the ruins, and the Turkmen and Bedouin tribes who lived in the area.
The Museum was opened in 1988 to commemorate the 100th
anniversary of Emperor Wilhelm II’s visit to Baalbeck. Open daily from 10:30 a.m. to

Beirut National Museum
Offering a 7000 years old permanent collection, Lebanon's National Museum exibits
a wide vriety of artifacts (sarcophagi, mosaics, jewelry, coins, ceramics, woodwork,
weapons) excavated from different archeological sites all over the country. It covers
the Prehistoric age, the Bronze age and the Iron age as well as the Hellenistic Roman,
Byzantine and Arab conquest and Mamluk periods. The Museum’s three floor building
offers to the public an audiovisual room and a gift shop. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00

Beiteddine Museum
The Museum displays objects from the Phoenician era to the XIXth century. It
comprises arms, costumes, jewelry and a unique collection of Byzantine mosaics.pen daily

Bsous Silk Museum
Housed in a restored silk factory, the Bsous
Silk Museum offers an indepth look into an industry that prospered in Lebanon during the

Byblos
Archeological Museum
The museum offers an overview of the excavations undertaken in Byblos. The history of
Byblos, from Prehistory to the Arab and Medieval periods, is illustrated and associated
with objects related to these periods as well as thematic panels shedding light on the

Byblos Fossils
Museum
Located in an alley of the main souk, the Museum exhibits a wide variety of fossils,
featuring mainly fish, found in the area of Byblos as well as other Lebanese regions. A
number of rare specimens come from private collections in addition to the museum’s

Cilicia Museum
The Museum of the Armenian Catholicossate of Cilicia diplays relics and reliquaries, a
collection of gold and silver plates from the XVIIth to the XIXth centuries, embroideries
and liturgical costumes, manuscripts, as well as a series of illuminations, miniatures and
Khatchkars (Armenian funerary steles). One of the museum’s halls exhibits a
collection of modern artworks by Armenian painters and sculptors from Lebanon and the

Gibran Khalil Gibran Museum
The Museum, and ancient convent embedded in a rock fac, presents the life of the
Lebanese writer, poet and painter Gibran Khalil Gibran (1883-1931) and exhibits a
collection of manuscripts, photos and paintings as well as a selection of furniture that

Hakel Fossils Museum
The museum displays a wide range of fish and renown fossils that bear special
Latin appellations. Specimens are offered at affordable prices. Rare and unique pieces are
not for sale. Hakel has provided museums, colleges and fossil collectors around the world

Hall of Fame Museum
The Hall of Fame houses some 50 silicone-animated statues of Lebanese and
international celebrities in the political, artistic and cultural fields. The animation

History Museum of
Saida
Built in 1721, the Debbané family house was converted into a museum illustrating by its
walls the various aspects of the Arab Ottoman architecture. It displays a historical
presentation of the city as well as related objects, texts, documents and manuscripts.

Lebanese Heritage Museum
Comprising five halls and eight historical eras, the Lebanese Heritage Museum
presents original pieces representing the Phoenician, Hellenistic, Roman,
Byzantine and Islamic eras. It also displays objects from the XIXth and the XXth
centuries. One of the halls is also dedicated to Youssef Beyk Karam, one of Lebanon's

Lebanese Museum
for Marine and Wildlife
One thousand different marine species are displayed including 25 species of
Mediterranean sharks, 30 different types of starfish as well as corals, sponges and other
wonders of the sea. Parallel to the marine life, there is a wide collection of animals and

Mary Baz Museum

Michel Abou Jaoudeh Museum
The museum exhibits personal objects of the journalist, various documents as well

Nicolas Sursock Museum
Built in 1912, this private mansion is the only Modern Art museum in Lebanon. In 1950, its
owner Nicolas Ibrahim Sursock donated it to the Lebanese government that transformed it
ten years later into a museum. Nowadays, it is well renowned for its monographic
retrospectives of Lebanese painters, as well as for its Fall Exhibitions, which are
devoted to itinerant contemporary exhibits. Since 1961, about 90 exhibitions, including
the Fall Exhibition, have been held, displaying the works of both Lebanese and
international artists. The permanent exhibition of the museum also includes a collection

Museum for Contemporary Art
The museum exhibits a collection of unedited paintings of the artist deceased in 1993 as

Robert Mouawad Private
Museum
Formerly known as the Henry Pharaon Palace, the museum, a palace built next to
the Grand Serail by Philippe Pharoan in 1911, is adorned with 15th and 16th century wooden
wall panels and ceilings from Aleppo and Damascus as weel as ancient artifacts, objects
d'art, and relics. Acquired and restored over a period of six years by the Lebanese world
class Jeweler and entrepreneur Robert Mouawad, the Museum also houses the Mouawad
collection of ancient books, ceramics, historical columns, pottery, weapons, carpets,

Soap Museum
Built in the XVIIth century on the site of a soap factory, the Audi Family house
was turned into a museum in 2000. The factory shows the different stages of soap-making
and presents the history of the soap industry in the region, from Aleppo (Syria) to Nablus

Lebanese Prehistory Museum
Housing over 500 archeologicl exhibits, the Lebanese Prehistory Museum exhibits
artifacts collected since the end of the XIXth century by the Jesuit fathers. The
collection relates to the evolution of the prehistoric societies who lived on the Lebanese
territory from the Paleolithic to the Chalcolithic. Visitors will find a range of
artifacts, including stone tools, burials, and architecture. Open on Tuesday,

Wonders of the Sea
Located in a XIXth century Lebanese house in Jdeidet el Metn, Lebanon, Wonders of
the Sea, a permanent maritime exhibition, displays some 3,000 shellfihes of about 630
species, including the murex, source of purple dye in Phoenician times, alongside red and
blue corals from the Pacific Ocean and the Red Sea as well as a collection of fossils. A
variety of dried echinoderms, sponges and crustaceans, as well as replicas of sharks and
other large sea creatures is on show. There is also an educational documentary film on sea
life.Open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 3:00 p.m.

In a farmer’s house recently restored, the Terbol Museum presents, a collection of
